TIDAL — Interannual Dynamics & Large-Scale Ocean Modelling

The Hydro-Climate and Ocean Centre (HCO) conducted a comprehensive step-by-step training on interannual ocean dynamics and large-scale ocean modelling using the Coastal and Regional Ocean Community Model (CROCO). The training covered model setup, forcing, simulation, and post-processing for practical ocean modelling applications.

Key Objectives

Install and configure CROCO with required dependencies to prepare the ocean modelling environment.

Create and configure computational grids for regional and large-scale ocean modelling simulations.

Prepare atmospheric, oceanic, river runoff, and tidal forcing data for model simulations.

Compile and run CROCO simulations while learning parallel processing and model restart techniques.

Process model outputs to investigate ocean circulation, variability, and interannual dynamics.

Generate scientific plots, maps, and visualizations to interpret and communicate ocean modelling results.
